Terms of Use

Last updated:

These terms govern your use of PadelMates (the "app"): the iPhone and Android app, its Apple Watch and Wear OS apps, and the service behind them, operated by Alex Cortés ("we", "us"). PadelMates keeps the score of your padel matches, lets you play with friends in rooms, and shows your stats. By creating an account or using the app you accept these terms. If you don't accept them, please don't use the app. How we handle your data is explained in the Privacy Policy.

1. Who can use PadelMates

You must be at least 14 years old. If you are under 18, you may use the app only with the consent of a parent or guardian, who accepts these terms on your behalf. The information you give us must be accurate.

2. Your account

You sign in with a code we send to your email address, or with Apple or Google where the app offers them; there is no password. You are responsible for keeping access to that email or provider account and for what is done with your account. Use one account of your own, and don't share it or use someone else's. A watch you pair signs in through your account; keep it to yourself as you would your phone.

3. The service

PadelMates is free to use. It has no purchases and no advertising. We may add, change or remove features at any time to run and improve the app.

4. Scores and stats are entered by players

Every point is entered by the players, by tapping a watch or a phone. The app combines taps from several devices and lets players resolve a dispute or correct a point after the match, but it does not see the court: a score, a result, a stat or a leaderboard position is only as accurate as what the players entered. We don't guarantee that any score is correct, and the app is not an official scorekeeper or ranking for any club, league or competition. Settle disagreements between yourselves; the confirmer of a match can correct its points.

5. Health figures are not medical advice

If you turn on health data, the app shows figures such as heart rate, calories, heart-rate zones and "clutch points". They come from your watch's sensors and from simple estimates (for example, maximum heart rate worked out as 220 minus your age), so they can be inaccurate, and they are shown for your interest only.

6. Acceptable use

When you use PadelMates, you must not:

We may remove content, reset a name or photo, end a stuck match, or restrict, suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

7. Your content

You are responsible for what you put into the app, such as your name, photo, room and club names, and guest names. You keep your rights in it, and you allow us to store, process and show it to the players it is meant for, only to run PadelMates. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for matches you played with others, which stay in their history under "Deleted player" (see the Privacy Policy).

8. Our rights in the app

The app, its design, code, name and content belong to the operator or its licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the app for your own, non-commercial purposes. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

9. Third-party services

PadelMates works with services run by others: the App Store and Google Play, your phone's and watch's operating systems, Apple Health and Health Connect if you choose to save workouts there, Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In, and Apple's and Google's notification services. Their own terms and policies apply to your use of them, and we are not responsible for them.

10. Availability

We work to keep PadelMates available, but we don't guarantee it will always work without interruption or error, for example when your phone, watch or connection is offline. We may suspend or stop all or part of the service. If we decide to close PadelMates, we will tell you in advance where we reasonably can, so you can download your data.

11. Disclaimer

The app is provided "as is" and "as available". Scores, stats, rankings and health figures are for your personal use and enjoyment, and we don't guarantee they are accurate or complete. To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties. This doesn't affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for loss of data you could have exported, or for any injury or harm arising from playing padel or from relying on scores or health figures shown in the app. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or wilful misconduct, or your statutory consumer rights.

13. Closing your account

You can stop using PadelMates at any time and delete your account in the app, in Profile › Privacy and data. We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if the law requires it; where appropriate we will tell you why. When an account is closed, your licence to use the app ends and your data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will post the new version here and change the date at the top; we will tell you about important changes in the app before they take effect. If you keep using the app after that, you accept the updated terms. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by Spanish law. If you are a consumer, you may bring proceedings in the courts of your place of residence, and the mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence still apply.
